This dish is widely served in Greece and includes two archetypical Greece produce – honey and feta cheese.  These are combined with sesame seeds and filo pastry.

The dish can be served as a starter or as a dessert – or as a mese dish.

Preparation Time: 10 Mins

Cooking Time: 30 Mins

Total Time: 40 Mins

Ingredients

For 2 servings…

4 leaves           Filo pastry

2½ tbs            Olive oil

100 gms           Feta cheese  - cut in half

4 tbs               Honey  - runny

2 tbs               Sesame seeds  - a mixture of black and white

1½ tbs            Ouzo

Method

Heat an oven to 160°C.

Place one sheet of fib pastry on a large baking sheet, brush with olive oil then lie another sheet directly on top.  Lay a piece of feta in the centre, drizzle on 1 tbs of. honey and sprinkle with some sesame seeds.

Fold the fib pastry around the cheese, making a secure parcel. Brush with some more oil. Repeat to make two parcels and evenly space them out on the tray. Bake in the oven for 20-30 minutes or until golden.

In a small pan, heat together the remaining honey and ouzo with 1½ tbs of water until just hot.

Transfer each cooked parcel onto individual plates, cut in half and drizzle with the warm honey sauce and a final scattering of sesame seeds.  Serve immediately.
